2018 — 2022

From the very beginning of the construction work, we have always reserved unused space to give local artists an opportunity to showcase their talents and provide a venue for the community to come together and connect with our building. This has allowed us to build strong relationships with the local community and foster a sense of ownership and pride in the project. Big ups to Foodriders, East Side Radio and everybody else involved ✌.

When Marianne and Aufstand! approached us to hold his album release event for Tirésias, we were confident that it would be a spectacular event. Given his exceptional talent and outstanding team, we had no doubt that it would be a success. Tirésias is named after a gender-queer figure from Greek mythology and is, just like the label and the artist, deeply rooted in the international queer-scene. It incorporates a broad variety of sounds and intense emotional vocals.

Tirésias addresses Marianne’s relationship of gender identity and represents the release of a body into society. With truly strong vocals and impactful lyrics together with superb musical and improv capabilities of Marianne, the concert was made especially memorable by the otherworldly design-concept incorporated in Mariannes’s outfit and the setting behind a glass wall, both from the mind of designer Marcus Hass Horn. The performance was itself encapsulated by a host of complex audiovisual, as well as physical installations by members of Aufstand! Marco Maiato, Carolina Ardente, Nico Tyna and Ndr0n, which included impressive merch by CVNT3000 and DJ-sets by the swiss collective StranaCorpus and Oseias. True to our expectations, the event was nothing short of amazing.

Under the theme "Metaphysical", the 58th edition of Moda Lisboa was a physical event with a rising digital component, creating a meta-physical atmosphere in which constant experimentation crossed the geographies of Fashion, Technology, Innovation, and Art. The convergence of multidisciplinary practices enabled the exploration of new possibilities of permanence, culminating in a breathtaking event that showcased the versatility of our building, which is still under construction. It was a gratifying pleasure to witness the site come alive and experience the contrast of brutalist architecture with beauty and design.

As a prominent figure in Portuguese rap, Holly Hood was anticipated to release some impressive new tune, complete with a dope music video. Our venue provided André Caniços with the versatility to create a variety of environments and scenes, resulting in a truly captivating final product. Peso!

A half-finished construction site is the perfect place to offer young, emerging talents a creative playground. The team working with Alexis Alexis drew inspiration from the raw, brutalist surroundings to produce a visually stunning music video for Marianne. I don't care, if you care.

Royal Ballet Principal dancer Marcelino Sambé, and the director Yves Callewaert were residents of Lisbon during the first wave of the pandemic, when they connected through Instagram to create this stunning film showcasing the rigor of classical ballet with a little sprinkle of magical realism and fantasy next to our building. What a vibe.

Fragile is a project by Portuguese artist Francisco Narciso, consisting of a video and 20 photographs. It was made during May and July, 2020. It represents our condition, the constant searching for physical interaction and the trivialisation of something guaranteed in advance. It represents freedom, prison, tolerance and adaptation. During the pandemic, Factory offered a safe studio space to realise this project.
